The goal
Reducing high energy costs for a busy touring park
Our client at a popular caravan and touring park in West Moors, Dorset, required a way to significantly reduce its high and rising electricity costs. With a large campsite operation running extensive daily power demands, their monthly electricity bill was averaging around £1,600.
The objective was to offset as much of this usage as possible by generating clean, on-site renewable energy, while ensuring the system was robust enough to handle continuous commercial demand. The available barn roof space provided an ideal opportunity for a large-scale solar installation capable of delivering long-term financial savings and energy independence.
The installation
A powerful commercial solar system installed on a new barn roof
We installed a 49.5 kW solar PV system across a new barn roof, consisting of 102 high-efficiency solar panels designed to maximise generation across the available surface area. The system was supported by 2 x 20kW three-phase inverters, ensuring efficient conversion and reliable performance for a commercial-scale load.
The installation was completed in just 4 days, minimising disruption to the ongoing campsite operations.

The result

The completed system now delivers substantial on-site energy generation, significantly reducing reliance on grid electricity and cutting operational costs.
