Why Choose Us

Solar Panels Wimborne

We are NICEIC-approved contractors and MCS-certified solar installers working in Wimborne and across the surrounding area. We have many years of experience installing solar panels on homes throughout Dorset and can advise on the best solution for your property.

Craig Danvers, one of the directors of Danvers Stanley Ltd, has grown up and lived in the Wimborne area. Wimborne has a wide variety of homes, with older properties close to the town centre, as well as larger family homes in areas such as Colehill and Merley. Every installation is different, so we take the time to understand your home and how you use electricity before recommending a system that will work well for you.

We manage our solar installations ourselves and do not subcontract the work. The same experienced team is involved throughout the project, from the initial survey through to the completed installation. We only use high-quality solar equipment chosen for its performance and reliability. All of our solar panel installations in Wimborne are supported by an insurance-backed guarantee.

If you are in the early stages and wondering whether solar would be a good investment, or gathering quotes and looking for an experienced local company to install solar panels at your home, we would be happy to help.

Why Go Solar

Why homeowners in Wimborne are investing in solar panels

Many of the homeowners we meet say they’re concerned about the cost of electricity and the potential for cost rises in the future. They’re looking for increased security and the added peace of mind that comes with reduced monthly costs. Generating some of your own power can make a real difference to your household energy bills.

Solar can be part of a more comprehensive move to reduced bills and greener living. If you have an electric car, the savings that solar panels can bring as you charge the car from power generated on your roof can be considerable. With such high petrol and diesel prices, switching to an EV and installing solar panels can be a great move.

Generate your own electricity at home to reduce the amount you buy from your energy supplier.
Reduce your reliance on the grid.
Make use of clean, renewable energy.
Add battery storage to save surplus electricity for later use.

If you would like some quick figures to discover the potential savings and payback times for solar panels on your roof, try our Instant Estimate Tool.

Battery Storage

Power when you need it

Solar panels generate electricity during the day, but it’s pretty common for households to use more power in the evening. By pairing your solar panels with a battery, you can store surplus solar energy and then use it when you need it. Batteries can also be charged overnight on cheaper electricity tariffs, which can be really useful during the winter when solar generation is lower. By setting up your tariff and battery charging schedule in this way we can improve your return on investment time more than the initial estimates suggest.

When we visit a property in Wimborne, we look at how you use energy before recommending a battery. Our aim is to suggest a system that makes sense for your home and offers genuine value.

Technology

Quality, reliability & performance

Over our many years working with solar panels and battery storage, we have tried and tested many brands and products. We have used this experience to narrow down our recommendation to key items from reputable brands, that we know will perform well and function hassle free for many years. We’re so confident in these brands that we’ve installed their solar panels and batteries on our own homes in Wimborne and Corfe Mullen.

Aiko Solar

Aiko Neostar 465W All-Black panels combine high efficiency with a clean, modern appearance. They can be fitted on top of your roof or inset for a more integrated finish.

Fox ESS

Fox ESS inverters and batteries work together to help you get more from the energy your solar panels produce. Their battery systems allow you to store electricity for use later in the day.

SolarEdge

SolarEdge are a premium brand. Think Mercedes, or John Lewis. They can cost more than cheaper alternatives, but the value comes in the quality of the product.

FAQs

Answering your questions about solar panels in Wimborne

Still have questions?

Wimborne has many different types of home, and we can tailor solar systems to suit all properties. Chalet bungalow style homes are common in Colehill and the size and pitches of these roofs can suit solar well.

Whether it’s a sound investment will all come down to getting the right system for your property and energy needs. In any case, with systems lasting for 25 years+ there is plenty of time to see a strong return on your investment.

Try our instant estimate tool to see what panels would go on your roof and to look at costs, savings and payback times.

The number of solar panels your home needs depends on not just the size of your roof, but also your electricity usage, the available space and how much sunlight the roof receives.

For many homes, around 12 or so panels is a good starting point. If you use more electricity, perhaps because you have an electric car or heat pump, a larger system may be worthwhile. We recently fitted a 22 panel inset solar system on a chalet bungalow in Wimborne, that is working really well for the owners.

The savings you could make from solar panels depend on how much electricity you use, the size of your system and how much of the energy you generate you use at home.

Generating your own electricity means buying less from your energy supplier. Any surplus can also be exported to the grid through a Smart Export Guarantee tariff. In some cases this means you can be paid money at the end of the month!

We can provide a personalised estimate based on your home and electricity usage. Our quotes include projected savings and an estimated pay-back time for your system.

Most residential solar panel installations in Wimborne are covered under permitted development, so planning permission isn’t needed.

There are some exceptions, for example certain listed buildings or homes within conservation areas, but we’ll advise you on any planning considerations during your property assessment and ensure your installation follows the relevant requirements.

Yes. Solar panels can still generate electricity without direct sunshine. Bright sunny days will produce the most power, but daylight also allows the panels to generate energy when the sky is overcast.

Winter generation is naturally lower because there are fewer daylight hours, but even so, solar panels do not stop working during the colder months.

For homes in Wimborne, we consider the expected yearly performance rather than focusing on a particularly sunny day. The position of your roof and any nearby shade can make a difference to how much electricity your system generates, which is all taken into account in the projections.

Yes, batteries can be a really wise addition to a solar system to ensure you can get the most out of it. The battery can be charged during the day when you may generate more solar than you’re using, then you can power your home off the battery in the evening.

You can also charge your battery overnight on cheaper electricity rates (tariff dependant), which is particularly useful in winter.

We can include battery storage options in your estimates and quotes.

Yes. We offer free, no-obligation solar surveys and quotes for homes and businesses in Wimborne.

If you want to get an idea of what solar could look like for your property, our Instant Estimate tool is a good place to start. It gives you an indication of the system size, potential energy generation and estimated cost.

We can also arrange a visit to your property. We can look at your roof, discuss your electricity use and answer any questions you have. We can then put together a detailed quote based on your actual property.
